That is the flower stand at the corner on the end of my street. So cute! Someday I will have to buy some fresh flowers there. Below is the cafe I like to go to for studying because they have really big tables in that back that you can set all your books out on. But it is also where the server Sandro bugged me and wouldn't let me study in peace. It is about a block from my house, on the way to school.

This is the view standing in the middle of the street between the park and the antique market/square facing west, looking at the Duomo.

And then this is facing east toward my apartment. Our windows are the two that are most prominent in this picture, 3rd floor up second from the right, green shutters, white trim:

And this is the minibus that travels through the teeny streets near my apartment. It is very small and I think they run on electric energy.

This is the door to my apt building: Piazza Dei Ciompi no. 21, Firenze IT (remember not to send packages!)

And then if you exit the door and look right you will see this:

Which is the antiques market to the left. Then if you look straight ahead you will see this:

The Duomo ahead with the park in front on the left. Then if you look to the left you will see this:

Not very exciting in that direction. Then you enter my apt building (there are 3 apts total) and you walk up these stairs:

To get to this door:

Which is my door. And now you know your way around my neighborhood. I have started running this week which is especially necessary because of all the pasta I have been eating. I have been all over the city and keep changing my route to see new things. Except for one day when it rained, it has been blue and beautiful and the weather is perfect for running (crisp and dry). There are some spots just outside the city where you could imagine you are running somewhere in North Santa Monica, the hills sloping up from Firenze to Fiesole look just like the mountains heading off to Malibu. And the puffy white clouds look just like ours on a beautiful Southern California day. But then you spot a castle up on the hill and you smell the garlic and bread smell coming out of a pizzeria and you remember where you are. Today the reflection of the city in the Arno was really beautiful but so far I haven't taken my camera on my runs. One day I will. I took the test today in class and I did well, fortunately I don't think they advance anyone out of their own class. I got 98/100. It was very easy and the things I missed were stupid errors so now I know what to study. We stay with our same class and same teachers (some people finished today because that is the end of their stay here) and will get other people (new people to the school like I was 2 weeks ago) added to our class. This weekend is Easter (Pasqua here) so there are going to be some events and also a lot of things closed. We don't have school on Monday either. So I might take a day trip one of the days and I am going to try to go to a worship service at the Duomo.

Glad to hear you've started to run. Sounds like a great way to see the city too!
