Two weeks ago (yes, I am getting kind of behind in my posts...), I stubbed my toe HORRENDOUSLY. It was the Monday after my museum bender and I didn't go running because I was just too tired. I feel asleep on the couch (watching Italian MTV, what else?) and then woke up to go to school to do my post. On the way out of the kitchen after cleaning up my lunch dishes, the door jamb jumped out in front of my left pinkie toe and stomped down on top of it. Okay, it might be more truthful to say that I rammed my poor, unassuming pinkie toe INTO the door jamb. Either way it hurt like nothing else. I tried to walk it off and actually put on my tennis shoes and walked to school as if nothing had happened. I must have still been in shock. Because by the time I got home my toe looked like this:

Yeah, gross. And the purple and blue color spread out even more than that. Yikes! So, that but an end to my running in Firenze and caused me to slow down a bit. Which is probably an okay thing. Just meant more time to enjoy my Italian MTV and my homemade caffe lattes. Actually, even when it was this ugly, I was able to wear flip flops and walk around without pain--it was just so swollen, I couldn't wear tennis shoes. A day or two later it looked like this:

Notice the blood (blue) pooling into the rest of my foot. And how disgusting and dirty my feet are from wearing flip flops in this very dirty city. I really could use a pedicure. Ah, something to look forward to when I return. Anyway, I am much better now. I might even be able to run tomorrow! And that is good because my friend Matt comes to visit tomorrow so I will be doing a lot of walking as the tour guide. I hope to make him run around city with me as well!
